Pedro Lemos Restaurant

Pedro Lemos opened in 2009 and immediately became one of the most prestigious restaurants in Porto. In 2014 was consecrated with a star in the Michelin guide becoming the first in the city. Located in Foz, one of Porto’s most beautiful and emblematic historical neighborhoods, in a house classified as architectural heritage. 

It was first inaugurated in 1964 as a British inspired pub that became a place of choice for elites at the time. Today, in an elegant and modern environment, the restaurant, in addition to the dining room, has a wine cellar where group dinners can be held, and a terrace for the warmer days.

A Capoeira

Years don’t pass by at A Capoeira, in Foz, a restaurant that has remained the same (that’s a compliment) for over 20 years. Out of sight of most tourists, that is, outside of Baixa – but under the eye of many Porto residents who, over time, become regular customers – Capoeira is one of those places where it always feels good to return. For the attentive service, the wine list, but especially for the typically Portuguese dishes, such as “Bacalhau à Brás”, “Lingua estufada”, octopus fillets with rice and “rojões à moda do Minho”. If you don’t know, you don’t know what you’re missing.

It is located in the middle of one of Porto’s busiest streets at night. It’s a bar where you can dance if you go early to escape the mess outside, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays. Café au Lait welcomes people of all kinds and orientations, but it is still mostly a good LGBT bar.

Luca by Luísa Oliveira Santos and Francisca Amorim is located on the ground floor of a.Cru, a space with several stores in Foz. It is there, in this 18th century house, that “grandmother’s food” is served, as he explains Luísa, from the catering company No Mundo de Luísa, responsible for preparing the dishes.

Euskalduna Studio

Located at nº 404 of Rua de Santo Ildefonso, Euskalduna Studio opened on December 7th, 2016. As a tribute to his journey on Basque country, “Euskalduna” – that means “Basque “ in basque – was the name chosen by Chef Vasco Coelho Santos for his project of author’s contemporary cuisine. At the restaurant, Vasco and his team invite everyone who visits them to join their space of creation and share a gastronomic journey in the intimacy of the counter (a center space at the restaurant) and the two tables. Aduela bar

Porto is a relatively small city but it has a considerable number of bars where you can have a late afternoon post-work drink. The locals love it. Don’t take our word for it, just go to Aduela and see for yourself. This is probably the best known and loved spot for after-work refreshments (you can also check Candelabro, at the Rua da Picaria). It’s a good place to sample Portuguese wines from several regions at affordable prices; you can also try sangria, the popular mix of wine and fruit (great in warm weather), and moscatel, the sweet wine from the southern region of Setúbal (during summertime, ask for a couple of ice cubes in it). There’s also snacks such as sandwiches with traditional Portuguese products, “tremoços” (lupini beans) or grissini. If the terrace is full, follow the locals: ask for a drink and sit on the street.
